You Yangs Regional Park is a great park for people of all ages and abilities offering a huge range of activities. I have been frequenting the park for a while now since it is one of the only dog-friendly places with hiking trails!
This trail includes three walks: (as described by Parks Victoria)
Big Rock Walk
3km, 1 hour return
From the Park Office car park, Big Rock Walk winds its way around Big Rock and then back down the same path.
3.2km, 1 hour return
Starting from the Turntable car park, this walk takes you to the highest point of the You Yangs. This is a challenging walk featuring 450 steps and rising 200m in elevation.
4.5km, 2 hours return
A challenging loop walk starting and finishing at the Turntable car park. Some rock scrambling provides rewarding views of the You Yangs and surrounding area.
See my other trails for more walks in this park incorporating other tracks or combinations.
Big Rock Features brilliant views of the surrounding area towards Geelong from the top. Also a popular area for Rock Climbing.
Flinders Peak is the highest point in the You Yangs ranges at 342m. From here you have great views to Geelong, Melbourne on a clear day and the surrounding granite peaks.
The East West Lookout is a popular area for rock climbers since it is perched on top of a large rocky outcrop. Views to the West and Big Rock.
