Python Hike (Dhoke Jeevan to Chak Jabhi loop - Trail 4)

After “Khoo gae hum Kahan” hike in last weekend of Ramzan, this was the next hike.
I wanted to complete loop of Dhoke Jeevan and Chak Jabhi without the trail top. There were not many people on the trail as I started from Dhoke Jeevan side. As usually people follow the Chak Jabhi route to Selfie point.

Water spring was completely dried with the irony of “India stopped the water”. After tunnel vision I noticed a Rs. 50 bill on the trail. Reached the old tree which had names engraved on that.

After that, there was a minor water spring. But water was not clean but what was coming after that was surpising.

A python….

People corrected me that it was infact Royal Rat Snake. It was not moving and was on a branch right next to the trail. Took its pictures and videos after passing it but due to intense fear I did not try taking closing pictures.

Now my brain was composing an algorithm. It was first time I saw a snake but that huge… What are the chances I would see that again? I had no hiking stick in case. Also I was wondering what if it was on a branch hanging above the trail.
And the noises from bushes, what if instead of bird, it was the snake causing those noises.

Anyways, I met with a group of people who were going in the opposite direction, I informed them of the snake.

And just as I was near the junction of the trails, I saw another snake on trail moving tremendously fast and disappearing in the bushes. Now I was very scared.
Every noise, every bush and every branch hanging on the trail were threat.

Finally, I reached the selfie point and there were other people there but the fear would not go down. I warned a few people who were in shorts. But nobody was scared. May be because they were in groups and I was alone.

Anyways, I had picked up a stick to counter the threat. In the end I made it back to the parking safe but still scared.

The night I could not sleep due to the incident.


رمضان کے آخری ہفتے کے آخر میں "کھو گے ہم کہاں" کے اضافے کے بعد، یہ اگلا اضافہ تھا۔
میں ٹریل ٹاپ کے بغیر ڈھوک زندگی اور چک جبھی کا لوپ مکمل کرنا چاہتا تھا۔ پگڈنڈی پر زیادہ لوگ نہیں تھے جیسا کہ میں نے ڈھوک زندگی کی طرف سے شروع کیا تھا۔ جیسا کہ عام طور پر لوگ سیلفی پوائنٹ تک چک جبھی کا راستہ اختیار کرتے ہیں۔

’’بھارت نے پانی روک دیا‘‘ کی ستم ظریفی سے پانی کا چشمہ مکمل طور پر خشک ہوگیا۔ ٹنل ویژن کے بعد میں نے ایک روپے دیکھا۔ پگڈنڈی پر 50 بل۔ پرانے درخت کے پاس پہنچے جس پر نام کندہ تھے۔

اس کے بعد پانی کا ایک معمولی چشمہ تھا۔ لیکن پانی صاف نہیں تھا لیکن اس کے بعد جو کچھ آرہا تھا وہ حیران کن تھا۔

ایک ازگر….

لوگوں نے مجھے درست کیا کہ یہ درحقیقت رائل راٹ سانپ ہے۔ یہ حرکت نہیں کر رہا تھا اور پگڈنڈی کے بالکل ساتھ ایک شاخ پر تھا۔ گزرنے کے بعد اس کی تصویریں اور ویڈیوز لے لیں لیکن شدید خوف کی وجہ سے میں نے تصویریں بند کرنے کی کوشش نہیں کی۔

اب میرا دماغ الگورتھم بنا رہا تھا۔ یہ پہلی بار تھا جب میں نے سانپ کو دیکھا تھا لیکن اتنا بڑا… اس کے دوبارہ دیکھنے کے کیا امکانات ہیں؟ کیس میں میرے پاس کوئی ہائیکنگ اسٹک نہیں تھی۔ اس کے علاوہ میں سوچ رہا تھا کہ اگر یہ پگڈنڈی کے اوپر لٹکی ہوئی شاخ پر ہو۔
اور جھاڑیوں سے آنے والی آوازیں، اگر پرندے کے بجائے سانپ ہی ان آوازوں کا سبب بنتا تو کیا ہوتا۔

ویسے بھی میری ملاقات لوگوں کے ایک گروپ سے ہوئی جو مخالف سمت جا رہے تھے، میں نے انہیں سانپ کی اطلاع دی۔

اور جیسے ہی میں پگڈنڈیوں کے سنگم کے قریب تھا، میں نے پگڈنڈی پر ایک اور سانپ کو بہت تیزی سے چلتے ہوئے جھاڑیوں میں غائب ہوتے دیکھا۔ اب میں بہت ڈر گیا تھا۔
ہر شور، ہر جھاڑی اور پگڈنڈی پر لٹکتی ہر شاخ خطرہ تھی۔

آخر کار میں سیلفی پوائنٹ پر پہنچا اور وہاں اور لوگ بھی موجود تھے لیکن خوف کم نہ ہوا۔ میں نے چند لوگوں کو خبردار کیا جو شارٹس میں تھے۔ لیکن کوئی بھی نہیں ڈرا۔ شاید اس لیے کہ وہ گروپس میں تھے اور میں اکیلا تھا۔

ویسے بھی، میں نے خطرے کا مقابلہ کرنے کے لیے ایک چھڑی اٹھائی تھی۔ آخر میں میں نے اسے واپس پارکنگ میں محفوظ کر لیا لیکن پھر بھی خوفزدہ تھا۔

جس رات میں اس واقعے کی وجہ سے سو نہیں سکا۔
