This less-traveled route to Mission Peak uses the shorter but steeper Peak Meadow and Horse Heaven trails to ascend and the usual route via the Ohlone Wilderness Trail to descend.
Mission Peak Pole
This is the main landmark at the top of Mission Peak, and is where most people rest and turn around. There is a tall pole with peep holes indicating and pointing to various landmarks in the Bay Area. The true summit of Mission peak is to the south east and is marked by a small wooden post giving the name and elevation of the summit.
