Descrição do itinerário
We parked the car at Ströden and took the Venediger taxi (17 €/person) to the initial point at Johannishütte (2.116m).
The hike starts with a steep trail for about 3,5 km upto the summit Türmljoch (2.790m). 360° views from here are amazing.
Now an easy descent for 4 km with beautiful sights upto the hut Essener-Rostocker Hütte (2.208 m).
In this point you can decide either go to the small lake Simony See (go 1,5 km + 1,5 km return), or reach the summit Rostocker Eck (2.749 m) in a 3,5 hr round hike to return to the hut, or enjoy the sun, the meals, the home made desserts and drinks of the hut.
Then, the final 6 kms from the hut to the parking at Stroden are really pleasant, following the river along a very comfortable trail with incredible views of the glaciar, the valley, the river, the waterfalls,...
Attention!!
- not try the ascent to the Rostocker Eck in case of rain because the path (loose rocks) will become very slippery and dangerous.
- no fontaines during the way
- only one hut to eat&drink something, even to spend the night
- pullover, raincoat, winter jacket, boots and walking sticks are mandatory.
Recommendable+++
