Trout River Pond is another glacially formed fjord in Gros Morne National Park. The contrast between the brown north wall which is the 0.5 billion year old Tablelands, and the green, vegetated, 100K year old glacially scraped south wall, is truly remarkable.
One can get a car right up to the launch area. On Google maps it looks like there are three landing/camping spots on the north shore. However, the middle one, is no good at all. The south wall in the middle of the pond has a couple dozen great, pea gravel landing spots for lunch. There is no room for camping though on the south wall.
Met a kayaker from Quebec on the way in. The shot I thought I had was out of focus. Do have one of him from a distance.
Looks good on google maps but this is a lousy place to pull out a canoe or kayak.
There are about 2 dozen spots to pull out a kayak or canoe for lunch between here and Gravely pull out 25
