próximo a Black Duck Creek, Queensland (Australia)
This area is a recent Northern expansion of Main Range National Park adjacent to Glen Rock Regional Park.
The first attached image shows National Park in pale green and State Forest (Glen Rock) in dark green.
The white tracks are remnant farming 4WD tracks.
We crossed the ridge from Glen Rock on one of the old tracks, this had been recently 'dozed' turning the surface to the consistency of soft sand making for hard going.
Once down in the Dry creek valley the going was much easier.
There is a comfortable camp spot at the end of the track at Straight Forward Creek. Although conditions are dry there were rockpools of usable water.
From here it is a 'Straight Forward' walk up the creek to to the gorge at its head, which is spectacular and would be even more so when the creek was running.
We then headed West up the ridge which was very hard (steep, exposed and crumbly), our route here is not recommended.
Other walking options from this valley would be ascents of Mt William to the West, and Mt Lowe to the East.
We exited via a track that links back directly to the East Haldon Rd, this has a locked gate with "authorised vehicles only" sign. This track appears to be gazetted road but crosses about 1 km of farmland and its not clear what the rules of engagement for accessing it are.
